All my favorites from internet explorer will not transfer over to firefox. I've tried all the suggestions already:

  • importing from internet explorer
  • exporting favorites from internet explorer then importing to firefox

Only half of my favorites are moved over to firefox. Very frustrating.

If there are problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.

If you do not have the menu bar in IE then right-click the toolbar at the top to enable the Menu Bar.

  • Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html):
    File > Import and Export
  • Import the HTML file in Firefox:
Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import Bookmarks from HTML

See "Import from another browser" and "Import from file":

I too had this problem - solved by following your advice - but also 2 more related problems. First, I have the same problem with importing the book marks toolbar - not all of the bookmarks in the toolbar are imported. How may I get them all imported? Secondly, successfully having imported all of the bookmarks into the bookmarks menu, how can they be reordered into date order?

I see the fix for this but do not know how to find or create an HTML file. The following instructions are very confusing:

Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html):
   File > Import and Export
Import the HTML file in Firefox:
Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import Bookmarks from HTML

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Are you able to export the Favorites in Internet Explorer?
