I have the latest edition of the Flash player and it works fine with IE but Firefox keeps telling me I can play things because I dont have it

There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash:

• an ActiveX version for IE only
• a Plugin version for most other browsers including Firefox
• On a Windows system, you should always update both individually.

You do not appear to have the Plugin version for Firefox installed. If you did, in Add-ons > Plugins you would see "Shockwave Flash (version)". If "Shockwave Flash" is there and is disabled, click the "Enable" button.

• only the most popular/used Plugins are known by this page
• page will detect only installed, enabled Plugins

Install or update Adobe Flash

1. Using Firefox, go to the following link and SAVE the download to your desktop so you can find it later. Un-check any items on that page that you do not want to download (i.e., "McAfee Security Scan Plus":
   • http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer
2. When the download is finished, close Firefox (File > Exit OR Firefox button > Exit)
3. Click or double-click on the file you just saved to your desktop
   • In the installation window that appears, click the box to the left of "I have read and...." to place a check mark in the box
   • The "Install" button in the lower right corner will now be highlighted, click it.
   • The installation is quick.
4. Start Firefox and test your installation here: https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
5. To update/install the ActiveX version for IE only, repeat the process, but use IE to go to the above website.

Many thanks for offering your suggestion to resolve this problem. I followed your advice to the letter, more than once, but sadly its exactly the same as it was. It simply will not work yet I have no problems at all with IE.

Also, before I updated my Firefox I never had any problem then either so its only since I upgraded.

I want to use Firefox but I simply cant, if anyone could help me out I would appreciate it.

Yes, excellent thank you that sorted my problem out. I'm running Windows 7 on 64 -bit whilst Firefox is, as you say, 32 -bit so I downloaded Flash Player in 32 -bit and its now perfect.

Pity there was not some kind of indication about this, or a warning of some sort when updating Firefox as its caused me nightmares!

The current Flash installer detects your OS (32-bit or 64-bit) and is intended to install both the 64-bit and 32-bit versions of Flash on 64 bit systems with 64- and 32-bit browsers. After seeing so much online with problems experienced by users of 64-bit OSes, I am beginning to suspect a possible problem with Adobe's Flash installer for 64-bit OSes.

ALWAYS remember when updating Flash on a system with both IE and another browser, that you MUST update both individually by going to the download page with IE then with the other browser.
