Ok this is where I get stuck too. I press Alt+Enter and nothing happens. Please help. This bing intruder is seriously upsetting me.

Hi daisydaze, when you type an address in the address bar and press Alt+Enter, it is supposed to open the address in a new tab. Do you have any other issues with new tabs not opening when expected?

Another way to look up the same information is to create a new tab first (Ctrl+t) before typing the address and then press Enter normally.

Another way is to use the Help menu > Troubleshooting Information.

Hopefully one of those will work for you. If I missed the point of your question, could you give a little more detail?

I don't know if you have seen the solution yet, but here it is. Go to add/remove programs in Control Panels and remove the StartNow Toolbar.

it is still opening a bing search on a blank page

im using firefox 8.0.1 if that makes a difference
