Every time I open Firefox I get an AVG warning about tracking cookies in Sqlite. I can't clean these cookies. AVG deny that there is a problem with AVG, so how can I fix this? I'm fed up of it and on the verge of going back to IE just so that I can open my browser without a stupid banner coming up.

Delete the cookies, for details of how to do that see deleting cookies.

Tracking cookies are not unique to Firefox, you get them in IE and other browsers as well.

Thanks for he answer, but if I've got to delete cookies every time I open Firefox there's no point in using it. What I'm trying to understand is if this is:

1. my problem (i.e. no one else has it) 2. a Firefox problem (so I'll get another browser) 3. AVG's problem (they deny it happens)

Sorry for the churlish sounding answer - I appreciate your trying to help.

I don't use AVG, and have not seen other reports of this.

You may have a problem with the file that stores cookies. To test this open your profile folder, for details of how to access it see the profiles article. Now close Firefox and rename cookies.sqlite to cookies.sqlite.old, When you restart Firefox it will create a new cookies.sqlite file.

I too have been exeriencing this problem for the last week now, and am getting extremely frustrated with having to delete the cookies EVERYTIME i open the Firefox browser. Sometimes AVG detects two of the sqlite tracking cookies, at the same time. When prompted to clean them, i have, only for AVG to give me a message that it has been unable to disperse of them. Then, i tried adding them to the exceptions list so that they could be ignored, again, they still kept popping up. I've opened up the location they are too be found in (AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\zof3e2jk.default\cookies.sqlite), and deleted it myself. This is however, all of the login details history you have kept on websites, as when i restarted Firefox, i had to retype my login details on every website i visit. I've never had problems with AVG until now, but from what i have read on the AVG forum, it is yet another bug with the latest 2011 version. My advice...stick with Firefox, and get another anti-virus program until avg can provide a more stable version.

Marksy - I think you're right. AVG help claim there is no problem with AVG and I need to upgrade to 2011. However, when I sent them a google link to others having problems they stopped responding to me. I've already decided to ditch AVG once my subscription ends but if there's no other fix than deleting cookies every session I guess I'll have to try a different browser.

Congratulations. You have adbrite.com spyware along with some other crap. How i found out? well I added the cookie to exception and went back in AVG to confirm that everything was ok and kaboooooooooom!!!!!! I had only one exception added to avg previously and now I have to scroll up and down to see the exceptions. I am listing some of them:

ad.yieldmanager.com adbrite.com advertising.com fastclick ....... and so on

So I removed all of them from exceptions and now i am looking for a good free spyware removal tool............... any idea?

You can let all cookies expire if you close Firefox and make an Allow exception for the ones that you want to keep.
Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Keep until": "I close Firefox"
Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Exceptions"
