ff will not let me set my own homepage
Now have FF 3.6; this problem happened several upgrades ago. When FF starts, the 'http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3.6.6/firstrun/' page appears, along with another tap, plus popups stating which homepage I want. I select the correct homepage, but FF does not go there and when set in the Tools section, never stays there.

See Firefox says it's just updated every time it starts - how to fix, in your case it sounds like the cause is a locked or corrupt preferences file as shown in the preferences are not saved article.
