I switched off the toolbars with View-Toolbars-(click off) and now cannot find the view menu to reinstate them! Duh.

Hit the Alt key to show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar, so it has a check-mark.

Magic! Thanks a lot...pity it doesn't appear to be in firefox help! It tells you how to remove them but not how to reinstate...
