MacOs Tahoe 26.5.2 & Firefox no longer work together nicely

Philbryant

Ever since upgrading to Tahoe 26.5.2 I've had issues with the way the screen and some forms work:

  • some buttons/ icons don't appear
  • some buttons appear but don't work (no response when you click on them)
  • oddities like if you select the edge of a window the cursore ocon stays as an arrow rather than changing to a resize icon.
  • the overall screen appearance is white making some information hard to read

I suspect this is more to do with the Tahoe upgrade than Firefox - e.g. the 'liquid windows' mean some folders change appearance; sometimes being transparent therefore you can't see them anymore. Anyone else experiencing odd/frustrating behaviour since Tahoe upgrade? Seems another case of too many 'clever' features with no value make the software too complex and fragile.

Some of the system behaviors and windowing/focusing woes are in the hands of the OS, but you can try troubleshooting the rest. That sounds like a cleanup or refresh might help, and you can also try switching themes and resetting some prefs. I'd basically follow some of the guides here, and look for any difference between the steps:

Try running Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode. If the problem doesn't persist, please follow the steps from this article to troubleshoot further.
