Browser had extremely slow performance, reset my pc, all my user data disappeared.

The entire browser was acting extremely slowly, on every website, every start up. It crashed constantly to the point it was unusuable, it was even affecting the performance of the rest of my pc so I reset it and everything I had on the browser disappeared. Bookmarks, passwords, etc. I've tried going through the profile support pages but only the profile made from the reset exists. I had years worth of important bookmarks and passwords that'd I'd like to be able to get back if that's at all possible. (I'll live without them, it'll just suck trying to remember them all again) PC is Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14, Windows 10

Hi lunarlady12,

I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this — losing years of bookmarks and passwords is incredibly frustrating.

Most likely, your old Firefox profile still exists on your PC, but after the reset, Firefox created a new profile, so it can’t see the old data. Here’s what you can do to check:

1. Open Firefox and type about:profiles in the address bar. 2. Look for any other profiles besides the one currently in use. 3. Click Launch profile on each one to see if your bookmarks and passwords are still there. 4. If you find the right profile, click Set as default profile so Firefox will use it automatically.

Also, check this folder on your PC:

C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

Your old profile should be there if the reset didn’t fully erase user data.

If you locate the old profile, you can recover all bookmarks, passwords, and history. If it’s not there, unfortunately the reset may have removed it, but in most cases it’s still recoverable.

I can guide you step-by-step to locate and restore your old profile if you want.
