I am getting regularly getting a random notification sound even when no E-mails have been received.

It seems to be when Thunderbird is automatically checking for E-mails, so for example if i have it set to check for new e-mails every 5 Mins I will get a notification sound every 5 mins or whatever I set that time to.

How do I turn off this sound without affecting the notification when a new e-mail is received.

I have heard of this where mail is coming into an unsubscribed folder. (even the sent folder) check that all folders you see are included when polling for new mails (right click > properties) the trash and junk folders are not by default.

Check the subscriptions for the account (right click the account in the folder pane and select subscribe) meke sure all folders for the account are subscribed.

I am 100% no emails are being received in this time to any folder.

I can change the check for new emails to any time period & it will give the notification for that exact time. if i set to 2mins it will give a notification every 2 mins or 10mins will do it every 10 mins etc.

I am just not receiving e-mails that often & I have checked other folders. I also have the e-mails set on my phone & I receive no e-mails on my phone while thunderbird is constantly going off

Please, Does anyone know how to fix this?

I am 100% sure I am having the notification when no e-mails have been received for hours including junk/spam folders, the notification is always the exact time that is set for "check for new emails"

Example check for new emails 2mins - I get notification sound every 2 mins 5mins - I then get the notification sound every 5 mins. 30mins - I then get the notification sound every 30 mins. and so on.

Not from a calendar? You have zero calendars?

No calendar entries or anything like that.

I think I figured out why I am having the issue. If I have any e-mails that come in & I don't mark them as read or or click to a different folder then it will constantly give a new e-mail notification on every send/receive.

Basically if it is showing the red number for unread e-mail in the taskbar it will continue to notify you on every send/receive until you clear it. Sometimes I like to leave some e-mails marked as unread If I need to comeback to it later so that its a easy reminder that I have not replied or completed what I need to do.

If I navigate to a different folder or mark the most recent e-mail as read then it goes away.

As I suggested in the other forum, you should file a bug.
