What happened to the bookmarks?

If you compare the bookmarks Sidebar (Ctrl+B, I think) or call up Manage Bookmarks, can you find them under a different category, such as Other Bookmarks? Did your Firefox lose any other data/settings? If Firefox looks like a blank slate, check the first section of the following article: [[Recover lost or missing Bookmarks]]. If the problem is limited to bookmarks: First, if you haven't already, please do a normal shutdown and/or restart of your system. Restarting can help by freeing up locked files, completing any deferred updates, and resolving temporary file permission issues.
