I am experiencing problems setting up a Thunderbird IMAP connection with a privateemail.com account. Incoming server settings seem to work correctly. I can receive messages, but I cannot send them. I have followed privateemail.com’s setup instructions exactly:

Outgoing Server Settings: Server mail.privateemail.com Port 465 Username [myaccount] Connetion SSL/TLS Password [mypassword]

privateemail.com does not appear to have any support beyond posted documentation. Has anyone who uses privateemail.com figured out how to set up a working privateemail.com outgoing account connection?

I went here looking for instructions. https://www.namecheap.com/support/knowledgebase/article.aspx/1179/2175/general-private-email-configuration-for-mail-clients-and-mobile-devices/

Based on that you need to be using port 587 for TLS/STARTTLS Despite Thunderbird calling the entry SSL/TLS SSL has in fact been disabled in Thunderbird for years. It was officially deprecated in 2015 and Thunderbird disabled support at that time if memory serves me correctly. So SSL/TLS has in fact been TLS since then.
