The ribbons containing the tabs and the search bar are taking up too much of my screen height, how can I make them smaller?
'I want to reduce the height of the two ribbons, (the tabs ribbon and the search navigation ribbon) at the top of my browser so that they do not take up as much height of the screen display. How can I do that?

Compact mode may suffice. If it doesn't, you can use a file userChrome.css which you have to create yourself (remove the blank space in the second link below).
