Hi

What are you comparing Firefox for iOS against?

As I understand it, due to the way that Apple locks down their software, the engines at the back of all web browsers for iOS are the same.

The above given statement seems really weird to me. If all browsers on iOS would work exactly the same, why would we need more than one of them in the first place? No, they are not the same and they don’t behave one like the other.

For me also, Firefox on iOS has been almost unusable for past few months now. Just did the latest update, but the issue remains. Most actions suffer from a few seconds lag. The keyboard has that delay (not when typing, but to appear on the screen) and opening a website takes ages, compared to recent standards. The most annoying thing is that, even when a site managed to have been loaded, I can’t scroll or do anything for several seconds. Then the thing “unlocks” and the previously attempted scrolling suddenly takes over, as if it breaks free from some large input buffer. Strange behaviour that definitely feels buggy. This applies to general browsing, navigating the tabs and preferences just works fine.

Another new bug is that Firefox sometimes decides to jump right to the bottom of webpages when opening them.

Also, highly annoying (and even worse, considering the above mentioned bugs): It always reloads the previous page when reverting back to it. This unnecessarily costs time and energy. When I follow a link in the search results (no matter which search engine) and revert back, Firefox reloads the search and puts me back to the top of the list, even though I’ve made my way down already. So using search engines and crawling the results is a PITA with Firefox. And this is certainly not a bug, but very much by design. Firefox desktop (Windows) does this also. I’ve not found a solution to prevent it from reloading pages every single time I go back to them, even only seconds later. …ever heard an IT concept called “cage”?

I want to like Firefox, but sometimes it’s not that easy.
