I've created new PST folders in my Gmail account linked to Thunderbird, but the new PST folders are not showing (or won't accept messages) in my Thunderbird account.

I thought the sync would be "pure", i.e. creating a new PST folder in either would trigger the creation of the same PST folder in the other . . . but it ain't happening . . .

Not sure what you're talking about. PST folders are an Outlook thing, and you're posting to a Thunderbird forum.

Apologies, I always ignore the pseudo unique terms that MSFT and the other tech company idiots attempt to assign to different digital concepts and objects.

To me, if anyone, anywhere in the universe, utilizes a folder in an email software platform to store messages for retrieval or export, it's a PST file. I don't care if MSFT, in its goofy, unsecure Outlook platform utilizes .pst and .ost files, the terms are not trademarked and are superficially utilized in an effort to prevent digital concept globalization, nerd style.

I guess Thunderbird (like Gmail) simply calls them "labels" or "folders" but they are still PST files in my terminology (and need to be called that to prevent the development of trademark protection (statutory or common law) by the lil MSFT nerd fascists up in Seattle.

I believe that I've resolved the issue. It's relatively easy to create a new "folder" within TB and it will usually sync back to the host Gmail account. However, if a new folder is created in the Gmail account, the folder won't typically sync to TB and the method of "updating" the IMAP connection via Gmail is clumsy (and very typically "Googly"). Such a file in TB then becomes a dead "whitespace" file that can neither be used nor deleted . . . very Googly indeed . . .
