I CANNOT for the life of me ever imagine how or who in the world would PUT THAT on someone's browser. I FOUND IT when I looked under options, and it blew my mind. I think it got there around July 21 an IT HAS BEEN THE SOURCE OF SO MANY PROBLEMS AND GRIEF. THE ORGANIZATION IS WEBROOT.

The webroot people say it's not them. I TRIED the suggestion of deleting it from the registry BUT IT IS NOT THERE UNLIKE OTHERS WHO HAVE IT THERE SO I CAN LIVE AN EASY TIME AND JUST GET RID OF IT. I UNINSTALLED and reinstalled this browser but it is back.

I AM THE ONE WHO CONTROLS THE BROWSER/ -- NOT WEBROOT.

If firefox doesn't get that, and has to do this nasty garbage by putting this "your browser is being controled by your organization" LET ME REMIND THEM, I CONTROL WEBFROOT, I PAY FOR IT, I CONTROL IT. MY WISHES ARE THE ONES THAT ARE HONORED. I AM THE OWNER OF THE NOTEBOOK

never i don't see chrome doing this. I don't see ie doing this.

i want it gone.

CAN SOMEONE please tell me how to get rid of it>

i looked into the registry and don't see "mozilla" under the policy in the registry keys. woudl it be elsewhere?

THIS IS MY NOTEBOOK. I WILL DECIDE WHAT IS WHAT. THIS DAMN THING HAS CAUSED A MULTITUDE OF IRRITATIONS BEOFRE I FIGURED OUT WHAT THE HELL WAS CAUSING THEM. I NOW USE CHROME, I AM TIRED OF HAVING TO RE-SET THE DAMN DEFAULT PROGRAMS -- HOW DO YOU PEOPLE LIVE IWTH YOUSELVES TO CAUSE SO MANY PROBLEMS FOR PEOPLE? I HAVE NOW SPENT ALL MORNING FROM 8 AM AND I WANT TO SCREAM. IF THIS IS WHAT THIS BROWSER DOES, I WILL GET RID OF IT. THERE AER OTHERS, LIKE SAFARI ETC. EVEN IE WHICH I WILL USE OVER BEING B ULLIED BY THIS.

Neither Mozilla or any version or Firefox has anything to do with Webroot. What you are seeing is due to Webroot that you choose to use.

Security software (like webroot) uses this policy to inject its root certificate in Firefox to be able to intercept the connection (i.e. act as a man-in-the-middle).

Btw you can still get your point across without typing in all Caps as that is the internet version of shouting in people's faces.

I assume that you looked here?
Note that this can be more complicated.

You can inspect the Mozilla and Firefox keys with the Windows Registry Editor in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and possibly in HKEY_CURRENT_USER with the Windows Registry Editor to see whether GPO policy rules are active.

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox\

Note that the mere presence of the "Mozilla\Firefox\" key is sufficient to make Firefox display this notification, so if you have the Firefox key then remove it and only leave the Mozilla key or remove this key as well if it is empty.

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox\ =>
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\

In Firefox 63+ you can check the about:policies#active page to see whether policies are active.

FYI to anyone who has this happen: this is something that I finally figured out webroot did.

It also has gone wild but that is too kind a word. I ate the drivers on two logitech optical mice, and it also caused every default to change -- well, a few of them. It is seeing the pdf files as some type of malware, and it changed every pdf file to the foxfire logo. I don't know how in the world they did that one. They also messed with my email.

I also had to constantly change the defaults to my email, my pdf -- anyway, i got rid of webroot and that took care of the problem. But there was an icon also embedded into firefox -- it did nto do this to chrome, i was having to use chrome as myu default -- and i just can't figure out why this happened other than it was some software I downloaded against my better judgment. I don't normally do that, but it was for a job that INDEED swas recommending. i hope they never recommend them again.

Quote: It is seeing the pdf files as some type of malware, and it changed every pdf file to the foxfire logo

It is more likely that Webroot didn't do this directly, but Firefox can do this in some cases when it notices that there isn't a handler for PDF files at the OS level. This will cause PDF files to get the Firefox logo. If you want to set another application to handle PDF files then you will have to redo this in Windows (File) Explorer.

I am not part of an organization and and i never knowingly authorized this, I need to control my own account. How do I get control back from ImportEnterpriseRoots short of switching to Chrome?

Hi wdtabor

This is usually caused by security software that places itself in the internet connection as a MITM (man-in-the-middle) to be able to monitor your internet access and needs to inject its root certificate in Firefox to prevent untrusted certificate issues.

What security software do you have ?

I'm getting this message and it shows that Firefox updates have been disabled. I have AVG AntiVirus and MalwareBytes. Would one of them be the cause of this restriction? How can I get so Firefox will update?

Did you check this article for your AVG security software ?

Hey all - I'm having pretty much the same issue on mac and haven't been able to solve it.

I'm a MacOS (v.10.15.6) user, and I've been trying to get rid of the "Your browser is being managed by your organisation" on FireFox (v.80.0.1) without any success. This is the detail of the "Enterprise Policy" thing that I get: ExtensionSettings {"{443830f0-1fff-4f9a-aa1e-444bafbc7319}":{"installation_mode":"blocked"},"{02274e0c-d135-45f0-8a9c-32b35110e10d}":{"installation_mode":"blocked"}}

What I have tried: - I have uninstalled and deleted all Avast (& other antivirus related apps - I just kept "Clean my mac" but I suppose that's not the core of the issue?) (binned & through a ~/Library/ search) - I quit all apps that seemed suspicious in the Activity Monitor - I have unistalled the previous version of FireFox (& deleted all packages found on ~/Library/ and reinstalled all again - I've also opened the "org.mozilla.firefox.plist" (see screenshot) but have no idea whether there's something I should change in there.

Note: the extension seems to be applied only on FireFox as my Chrome browser seems to be running normally so far.

I've restared my Mac every time I'd do something to make sure it'd sync somehow but nothing works. I still get teh same "Your browser is being managed by your organisation" on my latest FireFox version (v.80.0.1).

What can I do? Thanks!

Just to point out I use Webroot and have never seen what they were talking about. In addition I use Malwarebytes. However, my computer is a PC not an Apple so different OS may be part of the issue.
