I recently went to Twitter with Firefox v. 72.0.2 on my Windows 10 desktop, and Twitter loaded the mobile version of the page and told me it was because I was using an older version of Internet Explorer. So, I cleared all of my history and cache and tried it again, and it was okay. Then a couple of hours later, I went to Twitter again and again I got the mobile version of the webpage and I got the previous error message. All I had to do to correct it that time was load the page again. And, yes, it accuses me of having an older version of "Internet Explorer."

What gives?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Are you possibly using a small window or zooming the page ?
