Trying to use Pop in ThunderB and can't log into aol accounts like I used to
I have had Thunderbird for a long time and have used it to easily download emails via pop from one gmail account and 3 aol accounts. Don't use it often, and haven't used for about 1 year. Initially couldn't download gmail mails yesterday, but got that done. Tried to download AOL mail from 3 accounts over the course of 24 hours and none of them worked. Using newest version of Thunderbird
First it states: "Host contacted, sending login info." Then I get a message "No messages to download" [This is wrong. There are many new messages] This happens several times and the effort times out.
I then get error message: "Sending of password for user [aol email address] did not succeed. Mail server pop.aol.com responded [Sys/temp] server error."
Can someone tell me what is going on and how to fix it? Any help would be appreciated.

POP with gmail and AOL Both need to have the option to use 'less secure apps' otherwise the server will block you. In gmail it is 'less secure apps' https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6010255?hl=en
In AOL, it is 'Allow apps that use less secure sign in" https://help.aol.com/articles/allow-apps-that-use-less-secure-sign-in

Originally, my large aol account worked and Thunderbird downloaded about 500 emails. However, that stopped and I can't get it working today. Yesterday, I got a message several times that "Dele command did not succeed. Error marking messages as deleted. Mail server pop.aol.com responded: Too many requests. Also, got an error message; "No messages to download several times. "
Today, when I try to do a pop download on the large aol account (maybe 2 or 3,000 emails for last year, which aren't downloading), I get "No messages to download" message and after a delay again getting the "Dele" message, [probably happened that way yesterday, but I don't specifically remember it.]
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I give up. Can't figure out your editor at all and can't get rid of weird formatting. Will post this and do another post which hopefully will be easier to read.

Stop placing spaces at the beginning or your text entries. That is what is wrong with your previous posts.

From my perspective, the formatting problems started when I tried to bold text. In either case, thank you for your input. Tried to start all over following your response and still get the amazingly persistent formatting problem. Maybe I will re-write my question or simply start a new thread. This goofy formatting problem won't go away.
