in using TBird 52.9.1 (32-bit) on a 64 bit WIN 10 platform i notice that not all message filters created actually filter messages... i can create a new filter and it may or may not work... frustrating ...

does anyone have any idea how to remedy this so that all filters function?

Assuming the filter is enabled :)

If you filter after Junk classification : the email may have been moved to Junk before any of your filters can act on it.

Filters work in order listed. If you had an email which potentially could be moved by another filter, then the email will not be available in Inbox, so subsequent filters will not work as there is nothing to work on.

If you have created a filter that must have more than one condition as true, then if the email has one of those conditions as true, but not both, then the filter will not work on that email.

Have you enabled 'Filter Logging' so that you can see what is going on ? If not sure..... In 'Message Filters' click on 'Filter Log' button a new window opens, select he checkbox 'Enable the Filter Log' click on 'Close'

Suggest you post an image of the filter that apparently does not work.

none of the filters are subject to "other" filters... all are specific email addresses filtering to one folder only

yes... i know ... and my filters all are set to Match Any of the Following... so the conditions are minimal

i have now that you were kind enough to suggest it! i need to reiterate that i am not a novice to filters... some get created and work great.. others, using the exact same format only on different email addresses...do not work at all..

as to images, there is nothing different in the dialogs of the non working filters than the ones that do..except of course the data...and the destinations..

Suggest you post an image of the filter that apparently does not work.

been over the ones that i have created many times and do not see any reason for them Not to work...

thanks...

OK If you have filter that is specifically looking for an email address, often people use: 'From' and 'Is' and email address.

but sometimes the From contains an email address because it may also have a display name included. Try this instead: 'From' and 'Contains' and email address.
