Hi StellaHerron, which platform has this problem? Is it Firefox for Android, or for Windows/Mac/Linux? Thanks.
It just says Mozilla Firefox. It happens when I use my android phone or tablet.
For me, PDFs don't open in a Firefox tab on Android.
What I usually see is a little notification at the bottom that the download was completed. There's also a little arrow on the top bar (Android notification bar). Then I use one of the notifications to open the PDF outside of Firefox.
The PDF also should be on Firefox's Downloads list at:
menu button > Tools > Downloads
Does any of that seem similar to what is happening on yours?
There are no notifications at all, and nothing in the download list.
Hmm, is this only on one site? Possibly it could help to Request Desktop Site for that site; I really have no idea.
If this happens on numerous sites, perhaps there is an issue with an Add-on. You can review your add-ons using the menu described in this article: Uninstall Firefox for Android add-ons.
It happens on all sites I've used. Very frustrating when I'm trying to open a statement.
One other thought:
If you are tapping a link to load the PDF, try long-pressing the link to select a different option.
I have and it makes no difference. Should I download Mozilla for android and uninstall the version I have?

Um, what version do you have? If you are using the Play app and search for Firefox, the closest matching choices are:
- Firefox Browser fast & private by Mozilla -- standard versions
- Firefox Focus: The Privacy Browser by Mozilla -- reduced functionality privacy-oriented product
- Firefox for Android Beta by Mozilla -- test version of the next release
- Firefox Nightly for Developers (Unreleased) by Mozilla -- test version of a later release (less stable)
I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. Now it tells me that I don't have a PDF viewer to open the downloaded file. I have Adobe reader and the PDF's open if I use Chrome. Not sure what's going on with Mozilla.
Hmm, I can't explain that. If Adobe Reader is your device's default app for opening PDFs, Firefox should detect that automatically. Or is the problem that the .pdf extension gets lost when the download is saved, so Android doesn't match it up with Adobe Reader?
I'm not sure because the download doesn't give me the file name. Is there a way I can find it? I've tried holding the link to get more info but it doesn't do anything.
Usually when you view Firefox's Downloads list, the full file name with extension is listed. If there's no .pdf extension on the files that won't open, or if there is a different extension, that's probably causing the problem.
