can't access my Lightning calendar.

Please explain what that means and what prevents you from accessing your calendar.

My problem too. Lightning is installed but I can't find where the calendar has gone to. This is causing me stress right now.

I do not know how to do this so, no, this was not helpful to me. Why was it upgraded. I didn't ask for it to be and now I have no calendar.

Soo... Under Linux / Ubuntu, i added the mozilla repo : sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-security/ppa (There's an old version in the distributions repo.. with bugs.. )

and noticed that lightning was gone: it was deactivated & not compatible, so i deleted it afterwards (as all the forums explain), tried a manual install from addons wich isn't compatible.. duh.. ).. all tricks and explanations failed... until ... (drum roll... ) apt search thunderbird!

And there it was : xul-ext-lightning

apt install xul-ext-lightning

So now there is an anwser for Debian / Ubuntu Linux users ! (using thunderbird 60.2.1 on Ubuntu Bionic.. ) Enjoy!

as of writing this reply thunderbird 60.2.1 is the current official version.

and if you look at the lightning Version compatibility list you see that Thunderbird 60.2.1 needs Lightning 6.2.2.1 that was released October 2, 2018. but for some -to me unknown- reasons the download / official version at addons.thunderbird.net is stuck at 5.4

if you are on ubuntu you can switch to the packaged version: - remove the addon - install ubuntu packaged version with sudo apt install xul-ext-lightning - restart Thunderbird

if you are on another os you can try to download a 6.2xx version from the ftp and install the xpi. currently it seems that 6.2b6 from 04-May-2018 is the latest one available there. i have not tested this myself. a user reported that this worked for him.
