I've tried all the fixes and settings that Mozilla suggests (hardware accelerator unchecked, clear cache, start in safe mode and disable/enable add ons to see if the problems is solved, refresh firefox, reinstall firefox). I'm using firefox esr 32 bit(to keep access to java). The refresh or reinstall seems to work for a day or two, then back to taking 45 seconds to 1 1/2 minutes to load first page on startup. This does not happen loading firefox start page, but does when I try to get to another website, or when getting any kind of search result from firefox start page. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Should do this :

Try : SFC /SCANNOW = SFC<space>/SCANNOW Go to the Dos Command and Right Click it and Run as Administrator then SFC /SCANNOW fixes files locally using files found on your system.

Scan for adware/malware :

Go through Windows 10 Settings and turn off everything you do need or use. Uninstall Win 10 stuff you do not use. It can be installed again if ever want it. Go through this to find information :

Block Microsoft's telemetry call home with loads of your info :

  • https://www.oo-software.com/en/shutup10 Note you will need to make a Folder on the Desktop Call It Tools (can stick AdwCleaner in there also) run O&O it creates 1 file just do basic is good more if want to then reboot when tells you. Must download O&O with all updates of Win10 and run it again.

For Slow :

Or it is your Profile : Make a new one and test ...:

If is your Profile :

Note: Any customization will revert back to default, you will also need to reinstall Extensions.

Thanks for your reply. I had tried the suggestions you gave besides 2. I did try resetting all my permissions in Windows 10, vs. using 00-software. When looking into this it was suggested that this program might affect how some of my windows features work, so opted not to try that. I also deleted my profile on Mozilla and created a new one along with reinstalling Firefox. Tested both separately, and within a couple of days, the same problem returned. Of note- when running an antispyware scan, I have consistently seen this- sorry its not the complete link. Microsoft\Windows\NetCookies\deprecatedcookie...... Any further ideas??

Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCookies\deprecated.cookie [ /trib.al ]\deprecatedcookie......some of the wording changes each time I get it. Any further ideas??

Forgot to add, even after deleting the tracking cookie, I still have to do a refresh to get Firefox to work properly again- (along with everything I have to add back to make it "my own").

Please uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0.4 with a Full Version Installer

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Repeat the same for the ESR with deleting the folders and install with full version Installer : https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ Start to make plans as I believe July end will be last ESR

Thank you PK for your suggestions. Unfortunately nothing is working. Within a day or two firefox takes forever for the initial loading of the page. The only thing that fixes the problem is a refresh or complete uninstall and reinstall. From there I have to reload favorites, settings, add on's, etc. Such a pain!!!!! Not sure what to do next.

I experienced this same problem and through experimentation discovered that the KASPERSKY PROTECTION extension was the cause of my problem. Upon disabling this extension, firefox loaded normally and quickly each page. Check your anti virus software extension that may be added to your browser. That may be the culprit, also check the settings on your anti virus software that may indicate monitoring of web pages for banned url's or this sort of activity.

One more possible solution that worked for me is to navigate to the %safebrowsing% folder and back it up. Once backed up, delete the folder and restart Firefox......everything returns to quick loading instead of waiting 30 seconds or more to load the first page.
