What do I do about incompatability message regarding Microsoft 10 and Firefox?

I received a message that my Firefox was shut down and if I shut down the computer I would lose everything. It wants me to call a number to get a Microsoft expert to resolve the problem. I cannot restart my Firefox currently.

That's a scam, don't call them.

What is the reason you can't restart Firefox: does that same message come back?

Or is Firefox locked up and you need to terminate it first? To terminate a running program in Windows, you can try this:

Call up the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc.

In Windows 10, the Processes tab should show you any open windows of Firefox and provide a button to shut them down.

If that doesn't work, switch to the Detail tab, find firefox.exe, right-click it > End Process.

Now... Firefox normally recovers your open tabs when you start up after a crash -- unless you have Firefox set to always use private browsing -- so the problem tab might return. More things to do in that case...
