Cannot open Mozilla and my emails

I cannot open Mozilla Thunderbird from Start Menu or Desk Top Icon. I also cannot get to program un control panel. Therefore I cannot open any user emails.

go to getthunderbird.com and reinstall the program

I have emails that I do not want to lose. Will they be there if I reinstall?

I am suggesting you reinstall the program, not delete you mails.

yes.

Install replaces the Thunderbird program directory. But Thunderbird data is stored separate, in a different directory, from the Thunderbird program

I cannot install download because I cannot close old one. Any suggestions?

Kill in Windows task manager. Or reboot PC
