Whenever I get mail from IM users the letter arrives but the scroll bar is missing so I can only read the first few sentences. I sent myself a message from Incredimail and had the same problem.

You should be able to scroll with the arrow keys. Also, PageUp and PageDown should work.

Thanks for your suggestion. I tried it but it didn't work. Those functions are frozen.

I suspect that Incredimail is using non-standard characters.

Would you care to send a test message from your Incredimal account/client to me at

please? I'd like to see this for myself.

Hmm, I can't read your email in Thunderbird nor in the email app on my Android tablet.

Neither shows a scrollbar. Ordinarily, scrollbars are part of the viewing environment and are not usually provided or manipulated by the content. However, viewing the message source reveals several references to scrollbars and other controls, so clearly Incredimail are trying to manage them in the body of the message. Neither Thunderbird nor the Android email app seem to understand the commands to implement these controls.

Now, a digression. I'm 58 and as is common in my age group, I have become long sighted. This makes reading hard work. I could use spectacles, but it's nice not to have to. So I set my computers and tablets to use font faces and sizes that optimise the readability. Some users with similar vision problems also complain that white backgrounds cause them distress and set their systems to use something other than white. The theme I'm developing here is that many users prefer or need to use their own settings, and messages which provide their own backgrounds and set specific font sizes and colours are unwelcome.

Neither of the devices I've used has been able to show me the text of your message. I do see the panther. In the Android, the background graphics are not rendered so your text appears yellow on a white background and is illegible. In Thunderbird, I do get the background but it can't even show me the text because there's no way to scroll it into sight. If Incredimail use scripting, then it's going to fail in Thunderbird in particular because Thunderbird deliberately and specifically refuses to run scripts in email messages.

I use email to communicate with others. I don't use backgrounds or images because I respect the possibility that my correspondents may have their own needs and don't need my choices and preferences imposed on them. So, all taken into account, I'd have to ask if Incredimail is a suitable or reliable tool for getting your message across.

I once, many years ago, installed Incredimail to see what it was like. I'd heard and read many other people enthusing about it. But as soon as it opened, I saw the icons and the emphasis on styling and decoration, and decided very quickly that this wasn't for me. You may of course use it if you wish, but do be aware that there is a risk that users of some email clients won't see what you sent.
