why does my deleted mail from my bank not appear in "trash"?

I went to retrieve some earlier mail from my bank from "trash". There were only 3 msgs, one from today, and two from two days ago. I use IMAP, and just restored my email from a new system install. I REALLY want to see my mail history from my bank. What's wrong? berk-

If your mail provider has webmail access (such as mail.google.com), your best bet is to look there.

Also, some banks (such as Wells Fargo) keep mail they have sent to you on their website, so you should look there as well.

In the future, if you think you <might> want to take another look at an email, archive would be a safer approach.
