When closing Firefox there was a window asking if I wanted to complete a survey. It indicated that this is a Firefox survey and that I would receive an exclusive gift from Firefox. I have read that you do not provide gifts in exchange for completing surveys. This survey is being conducted by http://marketresearchglobal.com.

Here is a sample of the text in the pop-up, "Congratulations! You have been randomly chosen to receive an exclusive gift from Firefox!"

I would add a screenshot but there does not appear to be an option for that. Is this a scam?

Yes, that is a scam. Mozilla does do surveys, but they don't offer a "reward" for participating.

Sorry, the initial posting in a thread doesn't provide for posting screenshots.

Use the Browse .... button below the Post a Reply text box to upload the screenshot.
It is best to use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed a maximum file size of 1 MB.

I'd make sure you scan your computer for malware, Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware

Also make sure you update to Firefox 33.1.1 Update Firefox to the latest release

Sorry with my late reply, but I would like to point out that this did occur after I had updated to the newest version.

Firefox crashed, so I updated and that is when this pop-up,.. popped up. I have run several scans as well as inspected my startup registry, process list, and so on. Nothing was found, everything is clean, and I have not had an issue since.

This scam showed up on first launch after the update, before I was even able to choose a webpage. My default is www.google.ca

But on the first launch after the update Firefox opens a second page leading to a different version of google. That was the only difference that I can think of.
