Having same problem that other users have reported, black windows with blank surround.

Can't install troubleshooting box, based upon directions provided. Does Firefox have to be running? Using IE to report problem.

You can disable hardware acceleration in Firefox if you can't find an update of the graphics display driver.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

Thanks for the help, but I can't adjust any Firefox settings, because the complete window is black, so I can't even see the menus. I had to guess my way through shutting down Firefox, because all the message windows were black too. I'm just going to wait for a week or so and see if they manage to get this fixed.

If the info helps anybody who is working on fixing this, Device Mgr shows that I have 2 Display Adapters: Intel HD Graphics and NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M.

hello Keiko-Sachi, this should be the right driver update link for your system, which should address the black firefox problem: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23764 (for win7 64 bit)

in case this doesn't solve the issue or does not apply to your system, start firefox into safemode by pressing the shift key while the application is launching & disable hardware acceleration in the firefox menu ≡ > options > advanced > general (that setting will take a restart of the browser to take effect).
