Every now and then, Thunderbird notifies me of "new" emails in my inbox that are actually week/month old. I have no idea why this is happening nor how to make it stop and it is really getting annoying.

Mozilla Thunderbird is up to date, I am using Microsoft Hotmail for my two accounts and my ISP is Bell Canada.

Thanks in advance

first off, housekeeping.

File menu (Alt+F) > compact Folders

See if that helps? Maybe yes, maybe no.

Already tried that, didn't work.

I am still experiencing the same problem. I have tried compacting my folders again and again, to no avail.
