Please, how do I get rid of this message, which is preventing me from sending any emails: "Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded. Blacklisted by spam filter. Please contact customer service. Please check the message and try again." With pretty desperate regards, Gillian

I have an old Windows 8.1 computer with Thunderbird installed and it has worked fine. I want to move my email to a new Windows 11 computer. My old Thunderbird is listed as version 115.18.0. The version on my new computer is listed as 141.0 and is listed as up to date. NOTE: On my old computer my 115.18.0 version is also listed by Thunderbird as "up to date." Apparently, Thunderbird cannot update my old computer version any more.

Here's the problem. Thunderbird's instructions for moving my email from one computer to another includes this warning: "To move your data, you can copy your profile folder to the equivalent location on your destination computer. Ensure both versions of Thunderbird are up to date or identical before attempting a transfer as otherwise it might fail."

So, since Thunderbird does not allow me to have "identical" versions on my two computers, how do I move my email from my old computer to my new computer? (I apologize if this question has already been asked and answered.)

Hello I have asked this before but i did not get an answer i could use i did get an answer but it did not work. So i am asking again. I can run Thunderbird for like a month and then all of a sudden all inbox mail goes to trash folder abut not with the name of the sender with my name as the sender I have reinstalled several times i have changed my security gone from 64 it to 32 bit removed some add ons or extensions. Now it is run from Comcast email and that is correct as far as i know. Not sure i have it filtered correctly i am stumped please help me here . every time i d reinstall i need to put back manually all my contacts and that takes forever . Please i have even disabled Norton antivirus for 1 hour and it was doing this with windows explorer as well so please I know i asked this before but nothing worked. I hate to stop using Thunderbird but if this keeps happening i may need to. the only extensions i have in Thunderbird enabled are emojis, config button, restart, and ublblock. I recently updated my wife's extremely old Thunderbird version (52.??? or thereabouts) to the latest available version -- 141.0. Her address books vanished. Hoping they are somewhere in the Thunderbird folder waiting for someone in this forum to tell me how to access them. Thanks so much.

I am running WIN 11 and new Thunderbird 140.1.0 and changes in setting are not holding. For example, de-selecting start page so I see no start does not work. I get the new dark page upon restart. Also, in appearance I de-select hide system bar and that does not hold, as well as select table view but upon restart I get card view. Any tips or tricks would be helpful. Every eMail I get is now being marked as read when I move it to trash, including Spam, even if it is not read. I do not want this behavior. I did not change any settings. Thunderbird started doing this automatically, several days ago. I want everything that is unread to remain unread, ESPECIALLY Spam.

I get a lot of spam in my inbox. Previously there was a button to click to remove all of these to the trashbasket. That button has now dissappeard - I WANT IT BACK!!!

Since the change to the search facility I was having problems trying to setup a search with multiple criteria. In the process of trying to get into the old interface I did a rebuild database on a couple of folders in case there was any corruption preventing the interface to pop open- no progress and am still disappointed that the search facility is harder to use. That's NOT my problem. My problem is that ever since I'm getting duplicate copies of all incoming emails. How do I resolve this?

I have just had a few problems with accessing my gmail in Thunderbird even though it was all working perfectly this morning as always. Managed to get it sorted and had to close down and then re-open Thunderbird. Now, when I click on a message to read it and then close it, something odd hapens - it's as if all the messages in the inbox disappear for an instant and then all come rolling back in. Not quite sure how to describe it but hope you get what I mean. I've never seen anything like it before. Help!!

How can I change the Thunderbird Profile filename (instead of the random number)? I don't see this in the existing help files, and searching didn't find any similar questions I want something recognizable, like "thunderbird profile as of July 2025"

I see several folders within Library / Thunderbird. Some say "profiles COPY mm/dd/year" but the one titled simply "profiles" seems to be the active one. All these folders contain the same three random numbered files, and the one named xxx.default seems to be the one in use. I see two more users on startup, their files named xxx.TEMP and xxx.OCT2015 which I never use. Might be leftovers from when I had to change the SETTINGS around.

This morning an email from my inbox accidentally went into my deleted box. I have always been able to click on "More" and been able to move it back into my inbox. Today "More" had new options and moving to another location was not one of them. What happened? I often click 'delete' by mistake and have to move it back to where I really meant the email to go.

I've been using Eudora for almost 30 years but from time to time checked Thunderbird too because Eudora was discontinued in 2006. so I have to use the OAUTH proxy running on another computer in local network.

I have now installed Thunderbird 141.0 and configured IMAP accounts for one email account I have since Yahoo! Mail's first days in 1997. and the one I have since gmail's first days in 2004.

Everything seems to be working correctly but there is one thing I can't figure out why it is happening.

I have the same signature containing an 18x18 pixel .gif configured in both Eudora and Thunderbird and they both display correctly on the recipient's side and on gmail's webmail.

The problem is - every such an email sent by Thunderbird is at gmail's webmail recognized as "containing attachment" and is marked with a peperclip icon which is not the case when email is sent with Eudora.

The consequence is - it now looks on the gmail's webmail as every single email that I ever send has an attachment which prevents noticing the messages that really do have an attachment.

I don't see any way of inserting code tags here on the forum to post the HTML code of the signatures sent by Eudora and by Thunderbird once the email arrives into gmail's Sent folder so I am sending the screenshot.

I do NOT want to use an image from online URL with moz-do-not-send="true" tag. I want to use the .gif file from my hard disk sent in such a way it wouldn't be (by gmail's webmail) marked as an attachment and in a such way the image used for signature would be part of the message body - exactly what works well when using Eudora.

When the message is downloaded for offline reading the image used in the signature should NOT be "remote content", it should be part of the message.

I have not been able to open emails in Thunderbird since 9:30 yesterday morning. Nothing has been changed in the settings. It randomly started asking for the password. When I enter the password (which is working for mail.yahoo), I receive the following message:

Login to server pop.att.yahoo.com with username XXXX@att.net failed.

I've tried the 'retry' button and 'enter new password' many times without success. I'm using Windows 10 and Thunderbird 140.1.0esr.

I'm self-employed and desperately need access to Thunderbird. This has happened many times over the years, where it randomly stops working, then mysteriously fixes it on it's own. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Although I certainly do not keep all emails, I do file a LOT. I have about 200 folders for topics and people. I use the filing feature EVERY SINGLE DAY. Suddenly when I looked at email today, the message filing feature is missing. I have to have this feature.

I am a retired librarian. This may explain my love of with organizing and storing. I suspect I am not the only person horrified to see things missing from Thunderbird today.

My husband and I have used Thunderbird ever since Qualcomm stopped supporting Eudora.

Messages going to JUNK is STILL a problem even today after the downgrade. I know to use Shift-J, but Thunderbird DOES NOT LEARN. This is annoying, but less important than the filing issue.
