I recently had to to do a factory reset on my laptop on 5/31/2026. When I re-installed Thunderbird and re-connected my accounts, I used the same settings in copies and folders for my sent mail, message archives, drafts/templates.

And when I click on my sent mail folders for each account, all my emails are there -- all the emails I've sent going back to January 2026 when I started using Thunderbird. The same for my saved drafts and templates. Also, all the emails in my inboxes from prior to the factory reset are there as well.

But none of my archived emails are there. Under settings, I have the same settings as before. I've checked Keep Message Archives in "Archives" folder on j*****@email.com (not sharing my actual email address).

I wasn't seeing the folder in my left panel, so I left-clicked and subscribed to Archive. But there aren't any emails in the folder when it appears. One thing I noticed was that the setting is for "Archives" plural and the folder itself is singular "Archive." But I don't know if that matters since it's Thunderbird's default settings.

It's six months worth of archived emails that I would like to find. Are they gone? I'm not sure why my sent and drafts would be there, but not archived. I imagine they would be stored in the same profile?

I have tried to set this up on my own with no success, so I turned to ChatGPT and spent 4 hours going down the rabbit hole that is AI. Total waste of time!!!! Now turning to, probably, where I should have gone to in the first place, you guys!! I don't need to access calendars or contacts etc just the email. Can someone who maybe has done this using the @Mac.com email address give me some step by step instructions on how to do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks👍 Kev

I was writing an email, and completed a spell check where I had written "inital" instead of initial. I clicked on replace with Initial as I have done with many errors in the past, but this time the change wasnt made to the text before the email was sent.

Now, whenever I write inital as a test, it is no longer underlined in red and the spell checker is happy with it.

I have checked the personal dictionary list to see if I added it by mistake but its empty. Also, If I choose another english dictionary i.e. English (United Kingdom) it is once again recognised as a typo.

Is there a way for me to remove and reinstall the Australian English dictionary, or is there an easier solution I can try?

I am a relative newcomer to Linux but can follow terminal directions if provided. Thanks for your help!

I have successfully added my personal certificate in my account's E2EE and I can ever since digitally sign messages. Yay! After importing a multiple valid certificates for recipients, I tried to send encrypted emails to some of these (one recipient per email draft). All of them highlight the recipient's address in yellow with a yellow status bar: "End-to-end encryption requires resolving certificate issues for [recipient address]"

Clicking on the button "S/MIME" -> "View Certificates Of Recipients", a window comes up showing the address with the status "Not found". When I open "Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Certificate Manager", I see the certificates present with valid dates. Using certutil to investigate cert9.db in Thunderbird's profile folder, I also see the certificates being in there, but what struck me was the trust status: [...] Fingerprint (SHA-256):

I changed the Trust flags (first for emails, then for SSL email) by running certutil -M -n <recipient's email addresss> -t ",P," -d <certdir>

Whils I am not sure if this makes any difference to my beforementioned problem, I realize "Mozilla-CA-Policy: false (attribute missing)". How can I address this missing attribute and what can I do to get my emails encrypted, please?

I have tried changing the SMTP settings from port 465 to port 587 but no difference. If I log in to my email provider (vodafon/uniymail) I can send mails no problem. The problem is with thunderbird not sending smtp. Tried turning firewall and antivirus off, no help. Internet connection is glassfibre, internet works OK.

I have a problem with Thunderbird which might be a bit niche but here goes...

The first attempt at sending an email fails as TLS Record Layer v1 is used, the mail server sees this and hard resets the connection so sending halts. See attached Wireshark trace screenshot "Failed".

If I retry the send again Thunderbird uses TLS Record Layer v1.3 and the email goes out ok. See attached Wireshark trace screenshot "Success".

If I send another message immediately no problem but if I wait 20-30 minutes the above cycle happens again.

I have set the minimum TLS version in the config to 1.3 (option 4) and restarted Thunderbird but this has not changed anything.

Any ideas how I can fix this? It's a pain because automated replies don't work.

iMac 24Gb M4 Chip macOS Tahoe 26.4

When I request a search through Unified Folders Inbox for 10 email addresses using Quick Filter, CPU goes to 80% or more, and response is 10-15 seconds. Main search appears to be ok. Only add-on was a printer service but has been disabled and problem still remains. In troubleshooting mode, search still causes high CPU, even though I can only search one email address. Just started about 2-3 days ago (around 17-18 June).

Any ideas?

I tried to connect my user on my Online Accounts on Linux Mint, but it said: Authentication Failed, so i tried to open my accounts and send a message to myself. The message is sent and it appears a little window that says: Your Messages was sent but a copy was not placed in your sent folder (Sent) due to network or file access errors. You can try or save the messages locally to Local Folders/Sent-(my e-mail name).

Same happens with Troubleshoot Mode and I don't think it's a connection error, so what is the file access error in here?
