I'm getting the following error message:

The bookmarks and history system will not be functional because one of Firefox's files is in use by another application. Some security software can cause this problem.

I don't know what prompted this concern on my Windows 11-based laptop, but I only noticed this last night doing some research for another issue. I don't have any of my bookmarks showing up in the bookmarks section, nor will it allow me to click the star on any tab to bookmark the page. I have restarted and shut down my laptop several times and this is not solving the concern. Let me know if you need more information or if I need to start this inquiry again elsewhere, but again it sounds like the same concern.

I have included a screenshot of the exact error for accuracy's sake. Like everyone else here, I'm trying to get my bookmark and history access back up and running but not sure how to go about it.

I couldn't get past the first fix suggestion because I am not sure how to restart Firefox (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-bookmarks-and-history-will-not-be-functional?as=u&utm_source=inproduct&redirectslug=The+bookmarks+and+history+system+will+not+be+functional&redirectlocale=en-US). I have restarted my laptop several times but the issue still persists.

Please advise.

Ironically, I am not having this issue on my older PC that is still operating on Windows 10. I can view history and access or add bookmarks with no concern to my knowledge.

Now that some bright person eliminated my visible bookmarks, I find firefox is just too hard to use. You eliminated my bookmarks from the screen, but they are still there in the menu. Problem is, I have too little patience to use the bookmarks menu EVERY TIME, OVER AND OVER.

So the Firefox team has forced me to Bing. That sucks. I think this update was a tragedy for USERS, but users never matter anyway, so who cares? NOT FIREFOX. This last update ruined Firefox in my humble opinion.

bold text My prior version of Firefox had a line near the top where commonly used links (e.g., google calendar) could be accessed. My current version no longer has that. Can I recover those links and is there a way of having convenient access to them with the current version?

icon is missing on 2 of my bookmark, tried every fix found on google and AI and nothing works ... you should add a simple fonction to choose an icon for the bookmarks ...

After the last few Firefox updates, my bookmarks will not work at all. I have never had these issues before the last few updates, but they're quite aggravating. Is there an easy way to fix this issue where it does not happen again?

I have organized my bookmarks into various directories & sub-directories. On occasion, these directories &/or sub-directories 'migrate' if I'm not precise with my cursor movements. Is there a search function I can use without having to go through each directory/sub-directory one-by-one?

my bookmark bar disappered suddenly and all my tabs are gone. i tried to bookmark a new tab but it would not let me. and i didnt do anything different. opened my laptop today and i had to restore all tabs, and my bookmark bar is gone and all my shortcuts from bookmarks are gone too
