I'm afraid the community may be tired of me, but it seems this is the only help Firefox is willing to provide for my problems. First, I still can't get the History and Bookmarks to show, although for a while they did. On top of that, a new issue has developed. Firefox exe now shows on my desktop as well as where I actually want it, in the taskbar. When I try to move it from the desktop, the app is deleted from both areas. When I go back to my apps folder, where I choose to keep exe files, and create another shortcut to go in my taskbar, it gets put back on my desktop and the cycle repeats. With all that nonsense going on for a month or more (I've really lost track of the days and hours I've spent on it), my question is should I just uninstall Firefox, reinstall it and then try to get my History and Bookmarks back. Or what would be a better solution? Whoever helps me with this mess has my sincere gratitude. I've used Firefox as my browser for many years without ever having any trouble and am baffled by what's going on now.

This has happened a few times and confused me but I figured it out tonight. I had a private window open and a regular window open and closed the regular one. When I reopened the regular one all of my pinned tabs were gone. This should be fixed, Firefox should differentiate between the windows and stop closing tabs on the regular window if it's closed before the private one. Kind of an odd thing.

I was able to recover my tabs with a json file thankfully but haven't been able to do so before as I had opened and closed multiple windows trying to figure out where the pinned tabs had gone and the "previous.json" had changed to those new open tabs. It might also be nice to have a few "previous.json" files be created instead of the single one for instances like this.

I have been using Tbird for years. I currently have 3 email accounts, an icloud and two gmail. One gmail account is personal, the other is a personal account but used by 3 people for a committee we're on. The first two accounts are ok but the committee account has lost most of its messages at gmail, but they still seem to be on my computer.

Despite having used T'bird for a long time I still need detailed instructions in how to proceed to put the messages back onto the gmail account, hopefully without touching the other two accounts

Can anyone please explain why, when I type an email and use Bold, Underline, paragraphs etc the program actually changes some text to symbols like asterisks & underscore symbol instead of underline etc that I did not enter and in general makes the body of the email look terrible when it is sent and printed out. I have tried typing the message in Word first and then copying to the email but it still seems to change it when the email is sent. Does anyone know why and can this be fixed? The last couple of emails I have had to prepare in Word, save as pdf documents and then send as attachments and this is a long and tedious process just to send an email message even if it is a long message. Thank you.

Hi, 48 hours ago I upgraded firefox 140.5.0(esr) to 140.7.0(esr), and now, 48 hours later, everything suddenly stopped to work and I cannot load pages anymore.

48 hours is the lifetime of my kerberos ticket. After 48 hours firefox should send a new ticket to the applications, but 140.7 doesn't. The ccache in the application is empty!

I downgraded back to 140.5, and immediately everything works again.

Was support for GSSAPI/kerberos/SPNEGO removed between 140.5 and 140.7, and why so? Otherwise, how do I get it to work again?

ISP Blames Mozilla - No Email for 5 days Now!

Hello,

Need To Know:

I have used Thunderbird (TBird) for many years. Recently, I moved TBird data from a Dell Inspiron 530 Win 7, to Alien Arora 1250. Unfortunately, the passwords would not go, so I copy and pasted the data for 10 email addresses. All worked well, until 5 days ago when I could not log into the ISP.

Since then, 12 ISP tech support people gave me 12 different was to fix the login problem. The 'logging in' kept trying to login. The only way to stop it is to close TB and restart it. The same happens with all 10 accounts - can't login.

I followed instructions to the letter and nothing worked. Later, a tech at ISP said they have had a lot of complaints from people with Tbird and said it's Mozilla's fault. They all said they don't support Thunderbird. They only support webmail. One even suggested I delete all my cookies. Of course I'm not going to do that.

You would not believe the amount of crazy ideas I was given.

Here is the core problem:

I used both Pop and IMAP depending on the email account. TBird was great with POP and IMAP either.

I changed all the passwords as instructed. I followed the Step-x-Step settings on the ISP web site

The ISP, Rogers, took over Shaw. Rogers, I'm told, dropped support for 3rd party email clients and requires customers to create a new email on their Webmail host. Webmail is WEBmail because it is not Email.

Testing Out TBird:

  1. On the old Win 7 TBird (Ver. 68.1.1 (32-bit)) Email works with both POP and IMAP settings.
  2. On the new Rig, Tbird (V. 147.0 (64-bit)) worked for a while.

What Happens: -- Due to the issues, I set Tbird to not:, -- Check for new messages at startup -- Check for new messages every -- Automatically download new messages -- Fetch headers only

The two ISP are Rogers Rogers and Shaw <--- just redirects to Rogers. But webmail.shaw.ca still works.

My Rig with the issues: Alienware Aurora Desktop 1250 Intel i9 Ultra Nvidia RTS 5080 Memory 32 GB DDR5 Storage 2 TB SSD + 2Tb HDD Thunderbird Version-147.0 (64-bit)

Is the ISP correct, that Thunderbird may be the core problem?

Thanks for your volunteering - where would we be without you, ~r

Hi! I am a tax accountant. Considering updating from Thunderbird 97.0b3(64 bit) to latest non-beta version. Is this feasible? Is there a separate/special update process from Beta to the latest? Also would like to continue to use my POP account set-up at Optimum(Cablevision) here on Long Island. Email (Outbound)SMTP and (inbound)POP mail servers have to remain the same. So initially , I have to backup all my existing Thunderbird data & Profile.

I have used Thunderbird for a long time; previously used Eudora. The problem which I am trying to prevent is that when I try to send a client their encrypted PDF of their tax returns and related instructions, etc. my document database or data magt system, namely File Cabinet Solutions show in the activity log "Waiting for user input" --- so no email is created which would have all the requisite documents attached. The last time helpful client send feature worked in my tax software, Ultratax, was June 27, 2025. Ultratax could not figure a solution, after several weeks & suggested that I upgrade my Thunderbird.. Can anyone help?

Thank you! Best, Mike Porcari--- [edited phone# from public community support forum] (cell)

My name is Yoshinobu OKUMOTO. I live in Nara prefecture in Japan. I use Thunderbird as my e-mail software. My e-mail address is "ssh6820@asahi.email.ne.jp". I have received a mail at January 29 18:35, 2026 . In the space for name of a sender of the mail, "ssh6820@asahi.email.ne.jp" is written. This is my e-mail address in Thunderbird.

I did not sent a mail at January 29 18:35, 2026 . I wonder who sent this mail to me.
When this mail was sent to me, a red spam mail mark was attached to this mail.
Usually, when I received a spam mail, I transfer the spam mail to a spam mail folder.
But in this case, if I transfer this mail to a spam mail folder, I worries that transformation might transfer a mail from my acquaintance to the spam mail folder from that time on.
In the main body of the mail which I received at January 29 18:35, 2026, it was written as follows.

" Account is invalid.

When this page is displayed, the total of the account "asahi.email.ne.jp" is invalid.

The procedure to confirm the reason 1. Log-in with a browser, for example Chrome, to the account "asahi.email.ne.jp." 2.If the account is invalid, the explanation is displayed."

In the sentences mentioned above, " Account is invalid. When this page is displayed, the total of the account "asahi.email.ne.jp" is invalid."
But I can use my Thunderbird as usual except this mail.

Next, I tried to log-in to the account "asahi.email.ne.jp" with a browser Chrome, I could not log-in.

I already received this mail which have the same text three times until now, 1/20 19:17, 1/21 17:21, 1/24 21:04.

If it is necessary for me to forward to you the mail which I received at January 29 18:35, 2026, I send the mail if you inform me of your mail address.

I will be thankful, if you give me some advices in this case.

(Mr) Yoshinobu OKUMOTO

I noticed that in the last few months (maybe longer) the windows which were open before Firefox was shut down no longer open up in the same order after Firefox is restarted and 'History > Restore previous session' is selected (I want me to decide whether windows and tabs are re-opened after a Firefox restart, so I don't know if the same problem happens when the setting "Open previous windows and tabs" is selected).

This has been a problem a long(er) time ago, then it worked fine again, and now it happens again.

This might not seam like a big problem but I open new Firefox windows for each 'topic' I want to browse plus the first couple of windows are 'dedicated' to specific things.

But when the windows are 'out of the correct order' I can't just find things the (for me) usual place or windows opened for specific topics- and that is quite annoying. That is the background for this post.

I'm using Windows 11 version 25H2, and my Firefox is up to date (147.0.2)

I hope there are some Mozilla employees working with Firefox in this community (as they have the most 'inside knowledge', but I would of course very much also hear about experiences and ideas regarding this from other Firefox users :-)

The Thunderbird password I've used for YEARS (and is stored in "Saved Passwords") no longer works. I have two laptops with the same password, and they both ceased (on the same day) allowing downloads (or sending) of emails. This occurs on both my laptops -- one has TB version 115.10.1 w/ Windows 10, and the other has 140.5.0esr w/ Windows 11. It also occurs on my iPhone when trying to access the mail server.

Could the problem be the mail server itself?

Please Advise

I currently use imap with my email hosting provider and has worked well with Thunderbird. However, speeds are getting slower and storage costs have gone up. It is time for me to move non-current emails from my email account to back it up while still accessible. I was wondering if Thunderbird's Local Folders default path (C:\Users\......\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\......\Mail\Local Folders) can be changed to a google drive folder on D:\ drive. If there are any risks in doing so. Thanks.
