What is wrong with Firefox? For some reason it's decided to open on some 'Lab test'?? Three pages open, freeze the browser for a few minutes, then this utterly annoying Linkury smartbar at the top keeps appearing. I click the orange x, the bar disappears, then comes back a few seconds later. I go to options, remove it, it reappears a few seconds later. I have reset default settings, it still doesn't work!!!! Firefox in recent times has become virtually unusable, and so intrusive. Please is there anyone who has the foggiest idea how to fix this crazy situation?

Try the Following:

Scan for Malware

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try some of the following programs to scan for malware:

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Reset Firefox

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Thank but it still doesn't work. It worked for 1 day, then back to malfunctioning. I also keep getting the browser open in 3 pages one with some 'lab test', whereupon it immediately freezes and I have to shut down the computer. It is beyond frustrating. I don't know what firefox has done to my computer, but, I may have to use another browser as firefpx just doesn't work for my computer. But, I've got all my favourites on bookmark. Could I transport them over to a new browser?
