This has been happening since last winter, October/November 2009.

Whenever I conduct a new or image search, and click on the news items/images I want to open, firefox hangs and freezes, and the CPU explodes.

I click on "News", click on the links I want to open, and firefox hangs and freezes.

I click on "News", conduct a search, then click on the links I want to open, and firefox hangs and freezes.

I click in "Images", conduct a search, click on either the image or the website link I want to open, firefox hangs and freezes.

Troubleshooting information

Tried everything, and I'm over it. Completely sweeping the PC of firefox and re-installing from scratch, running firefox in safe mode, running firefox with no add-ons or bookmarks, running firefox in private mode, etc.

Now it's come to the point that by just clicking in the News link, the CPU skyrockets, and that page is slow to load.

I'm using Roadrunner, and it's definitely not my provider - I'm not having any problems with Google Chrome, Opera, Netscape, or Safari.
