minimized browser on start up

Just updated to V89. Since that update every time I do first startup in the AM I get a minimized browser screen-see attached screen shot. Never seen this problem before. Once I maximize the browser it will stay that way until next AM start up. Please explain what's happening and how to fix it. Thanks

Hi, you can try to download the extension as attached to solve the minimized browser issue in the start up. I think it would help to solve your problem.

That's weird. I suggest taking a few moments to stretch it out into a normal resizable window so that Firefox records your preferred size.

If that doesn't help...

Sometimes the settings file that stores window dimensions becomes corrupted with nonsensical values. You can rename the file and have Firefox rebuild it. Here's how:

Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help > More Troubleshooting Information
  • (menu bar) Help > More Troubleshooting Information
  • type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table on the page, on the Profile Folder row, click the "Open Folder" button. This should launch a new window listing various files and folders in Windows File Explorer.

Leaving that window open, switch back to Firefox and Exit, either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > Exit
  • (menu bar) File > Exit

Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then rename xulstore.json to something like xulstoreOLD.json.

Start Firefox back up again. Do windows display normally again?

That mini-reset may hide the menu bar and bookmarks toolbar. You can use one of these methods to show the toolbar list and select the desired bars there:

  • right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank spot on the tab bar (or the "+" button)
  • (menu bar) View > Toolbars
On Windows, tap the Alt key to activate the menu bar temporarily.
  • in Customize mode > Toolbars button (see: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars)

To turn on the Bookmarks Toolbar or Menu Bar, click it on the list.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I ended up ding a refresh and that seems to have solved the problem at the moment. I do have one question after I finished resetting my settings. In the application field previously there were two applications that did not reappear after the refresh. I really don;t know what they are and if I ever needed them. Please advise what they are and if I need them. Thanks

Those sounds like custom protocols. When you hit a link that uses one of those protocols, Firefox will pop up a box asking what program should be used to open them. Hopefully it will be obvious when it happens. Otherwise, you could pull a file out of your Old Firefox Data folder to see what the previous setting was. (The file is named handlers.json and if you open it in a tab, it should list your old choices for different kinds of downloads.)
