HI, no info came regarding your Extensions so please follow this and test to Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

SafeMode-Fx35

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

Hi Abed, I hope the first set of suggestions is helpful. If not, a few more questions:

  • Does it make any difference if you use the ••• icon to change how your News Feed is sorted between "Top Stories" and "Most Recent"? (Example screenshot attached.)
  • Have you noticed any problems accessing secure sites in Firefox around the time this started?

Does the mobile page work? https://m.facebook.com/ Same problem when I open the link in Firefox from my laptop.

Could you pop open the Network Monitor in the developer tools panel in the lower part of the tab. You can use either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > Web Developer > Network
  • (menu bar) Tools > Web Developer > Network
  • (Windows) Ctrl+Shift+e

Then try switching the news feed from "Top Stories" to "Most Recent" again. Firefox should generate a request back to Facebook to get the updated news feed. It may appear as

/?sk=h_chr&dpr...

If you switch it back to Top Stories, then another request should be sent that at least for me appears like this

/?sk=h_nor&dpr...

Is your Firefox sending those requests? Does the network monitor show a problem with the response (i.e., some code other than 200 at the left end of the line)?

Hi Jscher

I found a problem as shown in attached screen shot.

Hmm... Why is that first request going to https://web.facebook.com/ instead of https://www.facebook.com/? It seems that the data is coming in anyway, but maybe Firefox doesn't like the mixture of server names.

Does your main Facebook page load on https://web.facebook.com/ instead of https://www.facebook.com/ ? Will it work on https://www.facebook.com/ ?

Hi Jscher

It always load at web.faceboob.com, but now I remove history and cashe again, and the problem was solved.

This is a strange issue and its solution was stranger than it.

Anyway, it works now :).

Thank you
