i would like firefox to store my password on a certain site, because i always forget it and need to make a new one. but on this site for some reason firefox never offers me to 'remember password'. can i make it remember it for that site?

No, sorry, a bookmarklet (if that's what you're trying) is a snippet of JavaScript that hacks the open page. Running it in a different tab won't help.

I haven't tried those bookmarklets myself, but in order to run it, you would copy the code to the clipboard, right-click the Bookmarks Toolbar and choose New Bookmark, then past in the Location. You can give the bookmark any name you like; usually something short works best.

Sites can disable password saving by adding autocomplete="off" to the login form fields. This thread has more information about that issue and a possible workaround: Firefox won't remember the username & password for Constant Contact.

On the return visit, some sites (such as Windows Live Hotmail) create their login forms using a script after Firefox's built-in password manager has already scanned the page, so the password manager is not aware of those fields. If you are trying to save your password on a site like that, there is currently no way to do it using Firefox's built-in password manager.

thanks for your reply. i tried and tried, but doesn't seem to work. let me know if i'm doing this right: i open the page i want to save its password and i fill it all in. then before submit, i open a second tap where i have bookmarked the page identified by your link. that page opens. then i return to the password page tab and submit.

i tried that a few times but no dice..?

You can create a new bookmark (name: Remember Password) on the Bookmarks Toolbar via the right-click context menu and paste the JavaScript bookmarklet code including the javascript: label in the location field of the new bookmark.

You can create a bookmark with the JavaScript code via a right-click on the "Remember Password" link on the squarefree.com website and choose "Bookmark This Link" and select the "Bookmarks Toolbar" as the destination folder for easy access.

You need to use the "Remember Password" bookmarklet before or after filling the name and password field on the website with the login form, but before submitting the login form by clicking a button on the web page.

If the site is using autocomplete="off" then you see a number not equal to 0 (i.e. attributes were removed) in the pop-up alert from the bookmarklet and Firefox should offer to remember the name and password via a drop down dialog of the key icon that will appear on the location bar.
