One of my computers needs to be reset to default factory settings. I have a back up of the files on the computer including Thunderbird data including the profile. However, I'm not sure how to restore my mom's profile to the newly reset computer. I know there's a service called Moz Backup but I can't even start the computer to use the program. All I have is the folders and files from the computer. Is it even possible to restore the profile from the folders and files on the hard drive?

Of course it is. Create a new profile and copy the old one over it. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Moving_your_profile_folder_-_Thunderbird#Create_a_new_profile_and_copy_the_old_one_over_it

I copied the contents of my old profile from F:\Data\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Thunderbird\Profiles\hd8l0az3.default to the new profile folder located at C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Thunderbird\Profiles\txqxd1k0.Restoration

Nothing happened and I still don't have the old emails. Am I doing something wrong here?

Am I doing something wrong here?

Yes. The profile is underneath AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles.

Thank you! I was using data from the local folder instead of the roaming one.
