Since the latest update, the uploading of new emails from the server can take minutes to hours. I know the emails are on the server, because I can see them by logging onto my email client on my iPad. Why has Thunderbird suddenly become very frustrating to use? An example which just happened - I was required to enter a 6 digit code to be able to confirm my account before I could submit this question. I waited, and waited and waited to see this code in my Inbox. Finally I went to my iPad to get the code, so I could submit this question. It was there as I expected, but not in my Thunderbird Inbox for another 10 minutes. This is happening far too often, so I am contemplating finding another email program which is not so frustrating.

As a twelve or more years user of Thunderbird, I find it to be okay most of the time. I hate the spam folder that does not learn and I hate threads.

Today all of a sudden, I cannot save photos sent from my iPhone as jpg. I have always right clicked and a menu has appeared. Today, the right click just zooms in which I never want to do when I am trying to save.

I tried searchig online first before coming here. Apple is claiming that Thunderbird developers made a mistake and that is why the right click is not working. AI had me try a bunch of different techniques none of which worked.

When I do save after much effort, the "photo" in my Animals folder appears as the Thunderbird logo instead of the real item itself. The other weird thing is that my folders also do NOT show up where they should when I am trying to save. The menu doesn't give me all the folders as it always has. Instead it just say All Files which is not adequate.

I've developed a thunderbird add on. Now I need an extension ID I've read https://extensionworkshop.com/documentation/develop/extensions-and-the-add-on-id/

So how do I get an extension ID?

I have followed the instructions to txfer the profile to new PC W.11 - from W.10. T'bird says: "Your Thunderbird profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible."

I have the old folder from 'roaming' pasted in correctly - did it twice. No change.

I also have all my message folder ready on the new PC. These are held in a better location for bak up. When I moved to the last machine - nine years ago - I had exactly the same problem!

As new install will not load the profile I cannot get into it to tell it anything.

Suggestions welcome. SCA

What I need is an add to thunderbird.exe telling that every important informations are in my thunderbird's profiles mapp.

My computer was hacked. I had all data removed and a new windows 11 installed. I'm trying to establish my Thunderbird email ([redacted]@carolina.rr.com) since many of my communications are associated with that sign in. I don't have my previous password. Please help!

A few weeks ago I started noticing a pop up window was occurring every (approx) 5 minutes in Thunderbird suggesting that I run a compact to save 992MB. I assumed this would stop happening after a few weeks and a few updates from Mozilla, but the problem has remained, so I'm coming here to ask about it.

Context: I'm on Windows 11. I have multiple email accounts that my Thunderbird reaches out to. At least one of the accounts is retired so reaching out to its historical server fails.

Reproducing: For me to reproduce it, I run the compact. Quit Thunderbird. Start Thunderbird. It reports 992MB can be freed. I let it compact. The main inbox disappears and reappears. I wait a few seconds and restart Thunderbird. It again tells me that it can save 992MB by running a compact.

What I've tried: I've tried repair on the inbox folder of the account I'm typically in. That didn't help. I have many other folders across many accounts and not tried to repair any other folders. I've searched the Mozilla help system.

Logs: It seems to me that a compact is probably failing but I don't know where to look for evidence of the failure.

Hi, Fairly new Thunderbird user here. I've searched the wiki and support articles, but haven't found anything that addresses this problem. Details: I'm running Thunderbird 156.0 on a Mac, running MacOS 27.0, accessing a Microsoft Exchange account using EWS. If I want to move an email, I right-click on it, and have the option to: Move to "Myfolder Foobar" again (last moved-to folder), or Move To: > Recent Destinations > Favorites > my.email.account.com (EWS) > Local Folders

(Note that I can also drag the message to the appropriate spot on the folder tree.)

Of the right-click submenu options: The first, Recent Destinations, appears to show a recent single folder (but not the most-recent one, which appeared on the upper-level menu pick). The second, Favorites, is empty, (and I haven't figured a way to populate this list). The third, my.email, opens up a submenu that allows me to traverse my extensive list of folders in my Exchange account. This does work properly. The fourth, Local Folders, shows my trash folder.

My recent destinations setting is at the default value of 10. I tried changing it to 15 to see if that would jumpstart a change, but no change in operation.

Thanks for reading this far. My questions are: Is this a bug, or am I missing a setting in TB or Exchange which allows me to have the recent list populated with more than one entry? How can I populate the Favorites list? Searching the Settings tab gives no results.

For a long time I've been using ublock origin to block parts of emails and RSS feeds to make them more readable. This is not so much to block ads as to block parts that make it hard for me to read things. I am partially sighted. Flashing text etc. is very hard for me.

Now the extension loads but the element hiding part doesn't work on either emails or RSS feeds. I click on it but it no longer selects any part of the emails or feeds.

Why is this and what other options are there?

It still works on Firefox.

I created a new email account but during the setup the account got added with incomplete login details.I am trying to delete this account so I can recreate the same, but it cannot be deleted. I tried running as administrator as suggested on google but this also did not succeed. Now I realize that the new account which I was trying to create has merged with my default account and corrupted this account as well. Now I am unable to delete both these accounts.

I am stuck badly as my default account is not allowing me to send emails. Please help me.

Since 8/26/26 update any gmail emails that start with "s.xxx.com" not downloading properly. They flash then go blank. I've exhausted all of the proposed fixes from Co-pilot and Gemini and still can't resolve issue. Any suggestions to resolve issue.

I'm using Thunderbird as my email client and have it connected to my company's Microsoft 365 email account.

When I send an email from my phone or through Outlook on the web, the message correctly appears in my Sent Items folder.

However, when I send an email from Thunderbird, the message is sent successfully and the recipient receives it, but the sent message does not appear in Thunderbird's Sent Items folder or in Outlook on the web.

I've also confirmed that Thunderbird is configured to save a copy of sent messages to the Exchange/Microsoft 365 "Sent Items" folder and looked through numerous sent folder forum posts that don't exactly mirror this issue.

Does anyone know what could be causing Thunderbird to send the message successfully but not save a copy to the Exchange Sent Items folder?

Recently I had a hard drive failure while doing a backup. Somehow Windows and almost all apps and personal data. was lost. I downloaded a fresh copy of Thunderbird and can't get past either auto or manual configuration because I lost and do not remember password. When I try to add a new account, I always get the THUNDER MAIL screen which is Greek to me . How can I enter a new password? or is possible to use the PRIMARY password? I am going to try and see if i can get a current profile to use . Is there an easier way to achieve this? I still have my 2 earthlink accounts but again no password.

So, I recently updated Thunderbird and I appear to have lost the Spell check as you type feature. By 'doesn't work' I mean; The incorrectly spelled word is underlined, but a right click shows; No Spelling Suggestion (which kind of suggested the feature can't find or isn't reading the dictionary)

I have done multiple things to try to get it to work.

I have checked I have the English Language Pack installed in Add-ons> Language I have check I have an English dictionary installed in Add-ons > Dictionary. (I have uninstalled the above and re-installed them too, including, shutting down Thunderbird in between)

I have unchecked the "Enable spell check as you type" in Settings > Composition, restarted Thunderbird and then re-checked it.

Quite by chance, while I was typing this, I added an Add-on called "Easy Table Editor by Cardella" And whilst testing it, I noticed the Spell Check as you Type worked in the Pop-up window and continued to work inside the inserted table in the compose window. NOTE: Text outside the table, still does NOT work.

Whilst playing around, I also used a Text Highlighter tool (TextMarker) and amazingly, text that has been highlighted, also seems to work with Spell Check as you Type.

I then deleted everything (Ctrl A) Delete. And any text I type, now responds correctly to the Spell Check as you Type.

So, something in the thml code seems to be disrupting the code?

Hi:

I'm fairly new to Thunderbird-I've only been using it for a few months. For the first while, everything was working fine. Now, almost all links in emails don't even open a browser window. Those rare ones that do open a browser window never seem to resolve or draw a page.

I don't remember changing any security settings from the defaults. What should I check to prevent this? I'm savvy enough to know what to click on, and what not to.
