Unable to make Firefox default browser.
About two months ago, after various Windows and Firefox updates, I can no longer make Firefox the default browser. In Windows Default Apps the only option for FF is to make it the default program for Adobe Acrobat Document. Choosing Make FF Default through the browser does not work either. Additionally, I’ tried numerous suggestions, using AI help offered by both FF and Chrome, without success.
The OS is not allowing me to make Firefox the default browser. Is there any way around this?
Any suggestions?
Firefox: 155.0.1 (64-bit) Windows 11 Pro Version: 25H2 OS build: 26200.9278
Thanks

Well first off this is a question for a Windows forum not being a browser issue. In Windows Default Apps the only option for FF is to make it the default program
It's not an option for Firefox. i.e. what you describe is an option for Acrobat.
The options you want are for html files etc.
Once you have one set then click on a Firefox row to see others.
In the second image I show a few
Website use files with endings, even if you don't see them in the URL
index.php | index.htm etc
so if you make a text file on your desktop, name or rename it [test.htm] or [test.html] etc. then right click and choose : open with and then choose Firefox > always you may have a way to work on the issue

Hello,
First, you can try going back to Windows settings (Win + I), click on apps > default apps > then in the search box under set defaults for applications, set Firefox as default.
If this doesnt work, make sure that HTTP, HTTPS, .htm,.html, .pdf to Firefox.
If that also doesnt work, you can try to force it via command line : First, run command prompt (Win + R) then type cmd and press enter; then paste "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -silent -setDefaultBrowser" Keep in mind that the installation directory of Firefox.exe MAY be different!!!!!!
