I accidentally moved the entire "Junk" folder (from Yahoo Mail) into the "Trash" folder. How can I restore the Junk folder back to it's original location? Dragging it back is not permitted by the software. Interestingly the function still works as Yahoo seems to protect the folder and functionality from being deleted on the server). HuntArchitect solved a similar problem 2 years ago for a POP account, however in my case it's an IMAP set-up and his solution doesn't work (the folder gets moved back into Trash automatically, even though I can't see it in the Yahoo webmail trash folder).

I have this problem too.

This is with Yahoo email using IMAP.

Spam folder is at Trash/Spam. I can't move it. No matter what I change it reverts back to the way it was. Delete it, edit Spam.msf, take it out of Trash.sbd ... nothing works. I can rename it but I can't move it out from under Trash.

I have separate spam folders for Yahoo and Thunderbird. Yahoo puts spam in what it internally calls "Bulk Mail" but displays as "Spam" on their user interface. (Brilliant name ambiguity.) On my tbird it is at Trash/Spam. I have tbird put what tbird decides is spam in a separate folder "Spam_tb". It functions normally. (It is fixed at the top level.)

My guess is that Yahoo is finicky on what operations can performed on reserved folders. Tbird gives Yahoo something Yahoo doesn't like. Yahoo balks, tbird gives up, and restores what was. I see the message "... server responded: [CANNOT] DELETE failed - Mailbox is reserved - *"

Also, it looks to me that right-click > Subscribe ... doesn't do anything. No matter what I click when I open it back up everything is checked.

I 've had this problem for quite a while. I found the solution (at last!!!) at https://www.reddit.com/r/Thunderbird/comments/xdfqub/junk_bulk_folder_in_trash_yahoo_mail/

which I summarize below:

FolderFlags extension helped a lot.

Installed the extension, right clicked on the 'Bulk' folder in the 'Trash' folder, selected Properties -> Flags tab -> unticked the Bulk flag and clicked the OK button. Bulk folder icon changed to a standard folder icon, I could then left click and drag the 'Bulk' folder from Trash to the root level [the account name/address] and it worked! 'Bulk' folder back in normal position. Few moments later the icon changed to the ordinary Bulk icon and done. Checked the flags property again and it was set to 'Bulk'. That was an arduous and annoying journey for me, but I hope it helps you and any others.

I probably could have done the folderflags actions manually, but it helped speedup the procedure.
