Clicking on the icon should open that window. Or you can right-click and select Close.

That number should not be an indication of any open tabs. More likely at one point you had two Firefox icons on your taskbar and one of them was renamed Firefox (2). Maybe since then you removed the original one and are now left with only the new one which kept its name.

What does task manager report? Firefox.exe still running? Can you close the 2 tabs?

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.
