Thunderbird Freeze and slow
I use my Thunderbird email software for a business account with 6 email addresses. Within those 6 address I have multiple subdirectory files to maintain organization. It appears, however I could be incorrect, that Thunderbird software does not like all the emails and files I have saved. When I start Thunderbird up it will not let me look at email for a long long time and basically freezes up. My android phone has zero problem with my email so that makes me think it can’t be my email ISP. Anyway how can I fox this issue? I am using 8.1 on my laptop and have email addresses with Comcast and Gmail. Help Help Help. Ron

Hi Ron,
- Could you try to disable Windows indexing?
- It might be related to virus scanning as well.
Is this your first time for using TBird? If so, you have to set up some things on your providers. I, too, have a bunch of Gmail accounts. In Gmail click on the Sprocket icon top-left of page and select Settings. Then go to "Forwarding and POP/IMAP". Gmail has a help link on that page if you need it.
I use POP and have my emails downloaded and then moved to "All Mail" by Gmail. I have all my accounts download to Tbird's central Local Folders, and then use filters to put them into various folders under Inbox.
I'm not familiar with the IMAP function, so can't really help there at all.
If you need more details on setting up the TBird side, let me know.
What is your anti-virus software?
