when using explorer i keep getting a firefox dowload message and tab after tab opens with a conduit message?
When NOT using Firefox but using Netscape for work, a new tab keeps opening prompting a CONDUIT dialogue. You can't close them as they keep opening.

Conduit sounds like it could be the maker of various "community toolbars." You could check the Add/Remove Programs control panel to see whether you have any of those installed.
You also could try some spyware scanners to see if they uncover any issues. These two tools are highly regarded (and free):
