Is there a document somewhere that gives the meanings/explanations of all the choices when selecting settings for a Thunderbird account ? When I go through the settings there are many choices that I do not know what they mean, and finding each separately could take hours ...

If not all settings here are the important and necessary ones:

The actual settings should be gotten from your email provider. Actually understanding the technical meaning of them is optional but not required.
