I used a previous copy of Thunderbird (32bit) However, I was having issues with it not being able to save changes to my address book or keeping the certificates for the server. I tried to resolve this issue by making a new profile and coping the old profile to a new one. This broke something. I did have problems with the long path windows issue. I because TB just would not work. So I downloaded the latest version. This works but I am not able to see all of the folders and emails. I do not have any inboxes for some accounts. I use several email accounts related to a website (which I do not wish to publish here) and one G mail account. In the screen shots this appears with a number at the end. If I try and add a folder with the same name as one in the profile TB obviously says that cannot be done. But that folder is not viewable in TB. I do not have any issues with the set up in TB. I can send emails form the website server to G Mail . I cannot view the sent email in TB I have been days searching the web, this forum and the help pages still have not been able to resolve this. Some of those links below. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1294812 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1259489 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1077805 I use windows 7 with TB version 78.6.0 (64bit) Screen shots of various file structures and of TB.

PS:The emails, in the profiles, can be opened and read in Sublime Text. What have I done wrong?

Perhaps because Christmas is a busy time for folk volunteering. Or no one wanted to repeat the mantra of disable you anti virus email scanning and you will probably not need a certificate exemption. Not if your server is using a non self signed certificate that correctly identifies the server in the certificate.

the long file names will only be the useless triplicate stuff in the mozmsg folders. You could turn the option off in Thunderbird to allow Windows search to search the mail and Thunderbird would not only stop adding to those folders it would run faster. You could then delete the folders and the mozeml files and again nothing in Thunderbird would change except you would have more free disk space. (Thunderbird does not use those folders or files for anything at all. They exist solely for the allow windows search option which is presented once, when you first install the program)

Perhaps it might be related to the fact you say you have no inbox for some accounts. Even for failed IMAP synchronization there is always an inbox so perhaps no one knows the answer. I have defunct account configured, I have accounts configured on server I have never had an account on. All of them show an inbox

Perhaps it is related to the fact the accounts are on a private domain and without access to the domain information myriad issues that many be relevant can not be checked. Things like is the server is correctly configured (you would be truly amazed at the number of folk that come here looking for help setting up accounts in Thunderbird for mail servers that are not fully configured.) or what versions of SSL / TLS the server supports. Thunderbird 78 dropped support for the decades old TLS V1 ans 1.1 which it supported in V68 for instance. Does your server actually have encryption from this century? Again lots of bargain basement provides are having issues with security and offer out of date encryption from the 1990s. But you have chosen to without that relevant information. Hardly encourages someone to try and help you.

Thank you Matt for taking the time to reply. I now have the windows search turned off in Thunderbird. I did not know what these files were used for.

I have now set up all connections to the private domain server and Gmail.

I can go to the private domain sever directly online and read and send emails that way. I have now manged to get these emails to show up in TB. I am presently not deleting these from the server, so I can read them later if I make another mistake. I know these errors have nothing to do with firewalls or antivirus. All was working before and it works for the newer mails now. It is just the folders in the old profiles cannot be read. I have tried to import the older emails using an extension called ImportExportTools NG So far without success.
