I had an Outlook 2007 account which is now not available. Before it was unavailable I exported all of the contents to a pst file. I have just set up a TB account and now need to import the contents of the pst file from outlook into TB? I thought importing into TB would be as simple as exporting from outlook but I can't work it out. Can you advise please?

There's an article with advice here. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Import_.pst_files As you say it's not straightforward because the .pst file format is proprietary, i.e. it's not designed to be shared with/between other mail clients.
