It started with a message, "your inbox is full, try to delete some mails". The message seemed odd, to my knowledge there is not space limitation in the program. After deleting a number of mails with big enclosures, some mails will not open. When clicked on, it seems as if another mail is opened, namely the last one opened, only that the text area is blank. It has happened before but then the mails did open but contained html code and fragments from other mails. New mails open without problems. It is only some old mails that is affected.

You should first create a backup of your profile folder, just in case. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_FAQs_:_Backing_Up_and_Restoring

Then try to rebuild the index file of the troubled folder. Right-click the folder - Properties - Repair Folder
