Urgent: Suddenly not receiving emails

I don't understand why I am not receiving any emails today. There is some kind of disconnect between my webmail and Thunderbird because the webmail is working fine. I can send messages through Thunderbird but can't receive anything at all.

I asked my hosting company to help and they wrote back...

your email device is not sending any login details. So the error means it is not connecting successfully. The last couple log entries that show your device makes it to the server but does not supply any login details. As the authentication error is coming from the device there is nothing I can change on this end to resolve the issue. I would suggest fully restarting the email device or removing and adding the account to the email device again. Please ensure you have a backup of any data before removing and adding the account.

I have had this account for years without any problem. I don't understand what's happening and I can't understand any of this techspeak. I did try closing and reopening Thunderbird but there is no change. At first Thunderbird wanted to update and failed, and then finally succeeded but still the email problem exists. Please help urgently thanks
