Why is there is no SENT box in Thunderbird?

I just downloaded Thunderbird on my new Windows10 PC. Emails are coming in on it ok but when I tried to reply to and email I noticed :- 1. That there in NO SENT box! Why is that? Am I not able to send emails? 2. The email could not be sent! Confirms my suspicion that if there is no SENT box/file then I am not supposed to be able to send emails.

I checked several answers on the internet before coming here but could find no sensible answer to this problem. I would have thought that a SENT box/file was an absolute necessity.

My old PC running Windows Vista and Windows Mail had a SENT box/file and served me well for 7+ years.
